The Scarlett Jewels Scam Continues

The Scarlett Jewels Scam Continues

⚠️ Scam alert: the "free" jewellery trap

You've likely seen the ads: a heartbroken jeweller named "Scarlett" is closing her doors and giving away her entire collection for free. Behind the AI-generated photos and the emotional story lies a classic "just pay shipping" trap.

The ad you may have seen — a fake "closing down" banner designed to look like a genuine retiring jeweller's sale.

The reality of the "free" offer

The site scarlettjewels.com — operated by Denimtex Limited in Hong Kong — isn't clearing out a UK studio. They are dropshipping mass-produced cheap and nasty jewellery, if they send anything at all. When you "claim" your free gift, you aren't just paying for postage: you're paying an inflated fee that covers the cheap product, the shipping, and a healthy profit for the people running the scam.

Why this is dangerous
  • Data harvesting — you are handing over your name, home address, and full card details to an unverified offshore entity.  Some companies trading like this have been known to blackmail customers threatening to publish their details, or sell their personal information.
  • The refund dead-end — if you actually get sent anything at all, it's likely to be poor quality & you won't be able to return it and will have lost your postage costs. If you insist on returning it you'll be told to ship it back to China at your own expense, often costing £20 or more.  More rubbish in landfill - more money into the pockets of scammers!
  • The "retirement" lie — this is a fabricated story. Legitimate UK jewellers (like the real Scarlett Jewellery in Hove) have no connection to this site whatsoever.  As featured on ITV & The BBC last year it was verified that the content on Scarlett Jewels was AI generated, and all reviews faked.

Red flag checklist: how to spot the scam

Before you "just pay shipping," check for these warning signs:

  • Red flag The "World Trust Tower" address — if the contact address is Suite C, Level 7, World Trust Tower, 50 Stanley Street, Central HK, this is a well-known virtual office hub used by thousands of dropshipping operations - you are not covered by trading standards or similar enforcement bodies to protect your rights.
  • Red flag AI-generated model photos — look closely at the "jeweller" images. If they look too perfect or slightly blurred around the edges, they are almost certainly AI-generated and the person does not exist.
  • Red flag Extreme urgency — constant countdown timers ("Sale ends in 02:45!") are designed to stop you from thinking clearly before you hand over your details.
  • Red flag No real reviews — if you can't find the company on Trustpilot or Google Buiness with a verified history, their on-page reviews aren't directly related to a product, or if their rating is overwhelmingly 1-star warnings, walk away.

We are the real Scarlett Jewellery — a small independent business hand-making silver and gold jewellery in Brighton, UK, since 1998. We are not closing, not retiring, and not giving anything away for the price of shipping.

Our advice: if it's "free" and requires your credit card "just for shipping" — it's not a gift. It's a target.
