The History of the Maltipoo

In recent times, deliberate cross-breeding of dogs, also known as designer dogs, have been increasing in popularity as people want to have their most appealing traits such as.

The Maltipoo are a cross between a toy poodle and a Maltese and were initially created in the US around 30 years ago. Maltipoos were bred to be small but affectionate dogs who cope well in different types of families with hypoallergenic fur.

The Maltipoos are most commonly bred in the US, UK and Canada.

What do Maltipoos look like?

The appearance of the Maltipoo can vary from puppy to puppy as they are a crossbreed.

Maltipoos are one of the most delightful looking breeds of dogs and are ultra-cute with a slightly shaggy and curly coat, button nose and a fluffy face.

They are usually very small, weighing about 10 pounds and come in a variety of colours, ranging from dark to white. Their coat can be silky and soft or thick and wavy depending on the genes they inherit from each parent.

What are the personality and traits of a Maltipoo?

Maltipoos have a gorgeous temperament, combined with their cute looks makes them one of the most popular breeds of small dogs.

They are clever, playful, affectionate and retain their puppy-like looks and playfulness well into adulthood. They are the embodiment of the eternal puppy soft toy breed.

Maltipoos are incredible companion dogs, they adore their people. They are friendly and trainable but can at times be little mischief-makers, which is all easily forgiven!

Maltipoos can be a bit yappy so they make a great watchdog.
