On the 13th December new regulations come into place - GPSR (General Product Safety Regulations) on items shipped to EU and Northern Ireland.
This would require us to have a representative in the EU to oversee our jewellery and its safety. It seems hallmarking jewellery isn’t enough to ensure it is nickel free and we would even have to mark it as a choking hazard potentially…
The financial implications are still unknown, the costs to get jewellery tested for compliance unclear, the costs for a ‘responsible person’ in the EU to act as our representative is a mystery. We don’t even know how to undertake the tests and googling in circles in December is just making us stressed and causing mistakes when we need to be concentrating hard in making your Christmas gifts. We are just a tiny business. So this unfortunately means that from 10th December we cannot ship my jewellery to EU and NI until we have worked out the associated costs and viability. What a blow…
Our last shipping dates for these countries will be 9th December.
We are honestly hopeful that this will be temporary Here’s Stevie pulling a suitable face for the situation.
